Overview

Performed emergency stream bank slope stabilization work at seven locations along Clesson Brook Road and Apple Valley Road in Buckland, MA. The work was performed to protect the roadways from further damage in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene which dumped an unprecedented amount of rainfall on the area on August 29, 2011.

Our work included:

  • Placement of gravel borrow fill to rebuild severely eroded slopes along edge of Clesson Brook Road and Apple Valley Road
  • Placement of 2,600 cubic yards of rip rap
  • Installation of environmentally friendly root wads along the toe of the slopes and stone vanes within the stream channels to provide habitat for aquatic creatures
  • Placement topsoil, seed, coir fabric and native wetland plantings on upper portions of the rebuilt slopes
